How it works
The design process, step by step
Every project is unique, but here's a general outline of what it's like to work together.
Discovery Call
A casual 20-minute phone or video call to talk about your goals, needs, and timeline. This is our chance to see if we're a good fit and explore how I can support your project.
In-Home Consultation
I visit your space to see how it functions (or doesn't). We talk through your pain points, your wish list, and what's currently working. I take preliminary measurements and photos to understand the scope.
Concept Design
Ideas start taking shape. I develop layout options and mood boards that align with your style and needs. We collaborate through feedback and revisions until we land on a direction that feels just right.
Selections & Planning
Once the concept is locked in, we begin selecting furnishings, finishes, fixtures, and accessories. For remodels or custom work, I coordinate with contractors and specialists to move the project forward.
Implementation
The vision comes to life. I manage purchasing and procurement and oversee installation so you can relax while your new space takes shape. All at once or one piece at a time — I meet you where you are.
Budget
A smart budget, not a big one
Having a clear idea of your budget — whether firm or flexible — is always a helpful starting point. Cost depends on the size and scope of the work, as well as the types of furnishings and materials you're drawn to. Off-the-shelf items are typically more budget-friendly, while custom pieces or antiques can increase costs significantly.
Depending on your priorities, we can approach the project in phases — one room or element at a time — or move forward with a full redesign all at once. A smart design budget isn't about spending the least; it's about getting the most value for your investment.
Transparency
Being upfront and realistic about your budget lets us allocate resources wisely — where to invest, where to save.
One step at a time
Most homes don't need to be finished in one go. We start with the room that bothers you most, then build from there as you're ready.
Value over price
A higher upfront cost on durable upholstery or timeless cabinetry can lead to long-term savings and satisfaction.
Prioritization
Clarifying what matters most — comfort, aesthetic impact, sustainability, speed — guides how your budget is distributed.
Common concerns
You're not alone
Here are a few concerns I hear often — and why you shouldn't let them hold you back.
"I don't have a big enough budget."
I work with real-life budgets. We prioritize what matters most and build from there.
"I'm not stylish enough to work with a designer."
You don't need to be. That's my job — to help you discover your style and bring it to life.
"I'm scared of making a mistake."
I help you make confident, informed decisions, so you can move forward with peace of mind.

Your prep checklist
Here's how you can prepare for our first conversation:
- 1Roughly measure your space (it doesn't have to be perfect)
- 2Take a few photos in natural light to show how your space looks and feels
- 3Create a Pinterest board or save 5–10 images that inspire you
- 4Make a list of what's not working — functionally or visually
- 5Decide on a budget range, even if it's small or flexible
